I am beyond thrilled to share the incredible news: I’ve been accepted into medical school! This journey has been long, arduous, and filled with countless hours of studying, volunteering, and personal growth. I want to share some key aspects of this journey to hopefully inspire and guide others who might be on the same path.
Waiting
The waiting period after submitting my application was a rollercoaster of emotions. Some days were filled with anxiety and self-doubt, while others were full of hopeful anticipation. It was a time of reflection and self-assessment, and I had to constantly remind myself of all the hard work and dedication I had put into my application.
For me, the interview offer came very late in the application cycle. In fact, I had already planned to retake my MCAT and reapply. My interview was scheduled for a Monday and MCAT retake later that week on Thursday. I was added to the waitlist by Friday and accepted by the following Tuesday. It was and has been a huge whirlwind of emotions and planning.
I had a few days to prepare for the interview. I researched practice questions and planned answers to the best of my ability. The experience, though tough, was an incredible opportunity to understand myself better and articulate my passion for the field of medicine.
Acceptance
The day I received the acceptance email was one of the most joyous moments of my life. All the years of hard work, perseverance, and determination had culminated in that one life-changing moment. The feeling was indescribable, a mix of relief, excitement, and gratitude. It was a testament to the fact that with dedication and passion, anything is possible.
Conclusion
Being accepted into medical school has been a dream come true, and I am genuinely excited about the journey ahead. I understand that this is just the beginning, and the road to becoming a doctor will be challenging, but I am ready for it. I hope my journey inspires others who are on the same path, and remember, no matter how daunting the journey may seem, with hard work and determination, dreams do come true.
More to come on the very long to-do list I now have in preparation to start medical school in a little over a month. Phew. Scary.
Stay organized friends!
